New Hire: Coach Kaiser joins Spartan Lacrosse

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University Men's Lacrosse team has hired Kevin Kaiser as an assistant coach for the 2021-2022 season.

"The team is very excited to have a talent like Kaiser join the coaching staff at MSU this year," team president Nick Clark said. "He has a vast and significant resume both as a player and coach that ranges from local level lacrosse to the highest tier at the professional level. We're anticipating a transformational season with the addition of Coach Kevin to our staff."

"I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be able to interact with these young men, be apart of the MSU community and thrilled to be able to give back to the game that has been so good to me," Coach Kaiser stated. "I intend to teach the game in the same manner it was taught to me; with passion, dedication, and commitment to the details."

Kaiser graduated from Johns Hopkins University in May of 1998 with a Bachelor's of Science in Political Science and sported a 4-year playing career with the Blue Jays where he was freshman year in 1995 and helped their undefeated team to the NCAA semi-finals. He finished his last season in 1998 as an All-American nominee while earning the the Fred Smith Loyalty and Dedication award at Johns Hopkins.

Upon graduation, he was drafted into the National Lacrosse League (NLL) by the Philadelphia Wings where he played 2 seasons and helped bring the team a championship title in 2001. Soon after, in 2003, he transitioned to the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) where he played for 3 seasons with the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Bayhawks along with Kaiser, won the championship in 2005, in which some have dubbed “Greatest Lacrosse Team Ever Assembled."

Following his playing career, Kaiser has dedicated his time to grow the game of women's lacrosse. He has coached at multiple clubs in recent years including Coppermine Lacrosse Club (Baltimore, MD) and Triumph Lacrosse Club (Plymouth, MI). Most recently, he has been helping coach the local Okemos High School Women's Lacrosse team.

Kaiser is looking to help drive the Spartans to another historical season after the program comes off a year of COVID-19 cancellation that affected the majority of the MCLA. The Spartans are scheduled to begin their fall season this upcoming Monday, September 13th.
